Mapping for Change has been working with Budapest City Council and GGGI Hungary as part of the EU-funded UP2030 HE project to strengthen public engagement in planning and decision-making around green infrastructure improvements.
Our Community Maps platform was deployed to gather citizen input on where to:
- Plant new trees 🌳
- Create green spaces on hard surfaces 🌱
- Renovate underused or poor-quality green areas 🛠️
📍 Over 800 residents took part, contributing valuable insights that support Budapest’s urban development goals and greening strategy.
This initiative not only enables inclusive decision-making but also demonstrates how digital tools can bridge the gap between citizens and policymakers.
🎥 Watch our video to see how Community Maps helped bring community-led ideas to life across the city.
