Ten years of citizen led air quality monitoring in London

Air pollution is now fully acknowledged to be a significant public health problem, responsible for a growing range of health effects that are well documented.

Achieving the right public attitude, awareness and behaviour by the use of optimal air pollution monitoring, forecasting and reporting will go some way towards creating a healthier environment.

Over the past ten years Mapping for Change has been supporting community-based air quality monitoring with the view to increase awareness and encourage citizen-led change supported by wider action.

This work has been documented in our Air Quality Story Map and a lot of the communities’ data has been shared on the  Community Air Quality Map.
